Donald Driver Wins Dancing with the Stars
Longtime Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver was crowned the champion of Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night along with his dancing partner Peta Murgatroyd. Driver and Murgatroyd earned a perfect score with their final cha-cha dance to secure the victory. After Driverās cha-cha, judge Len Goodman had this to say:
"Weāve had a lot of football [players] on this show over the years. My feeling is, youāre the best weāve had.
"
Driver becomes the 14th winner of Dancing With the Stars, joining former NFL stars Hines Ward and Emmitt Smith as the only football players to have won the honor.
The 37-year-old Driver performed a country dance on Monday night that was Packer-themed with him and his partner dressed in green and gold and dancing on a football field platform, just in case anyone forgot where he gained his claim to fame.
Fan voting had a lot to do with Driverās victory and I suspect Green Bayās status as a national team, often dubbed āAmericaās Team,ā had a little to do with Driver receiving so many votes.
This comes only a few days after rumors started about his possible retirement following a few cryptic tweets and the subsequent rebuttal the next day from Driverās agent, who was adamant that Driver will be in a Green Bay uniform next season.
Hopefully all of that dancing helped improve Driverās footwork as training camp opens up in a few weeks. Heāll be in fierce competition with James Jones and Randall Cobb for the third and fourth wide receiver spots.
But for now, itās a time to celebrate the accomplishments of Donald Driver, who has served as a leader both on and off the field in Green Bay, WI.
