French Open 2012: Latest Odds on Federer, Nadal and More

Ryan PhillipsJun 2, 2018

The 2012 French Open kicks off on Sunday, and defending champion Rafael Nadal is the favorite to win his third-straight title at Roland Garros.

Nadal is currently an overwhelming 5-to-6 favorite, according to LasVegasSportsBetting.com. That comes despite an early exit from the Madrid Open and its slippery blue clay. But on Monday, Nadal bounced back by winning his sixth Italian Open title with a 7-5, 6-3 win over world No. 1 Novak Djokovic

The Italian Open was a clay-court tune-up for the French Open, and Nadal breezed through without dropping a set.

Djokovic is still the top player in the world, but he has never won the French Open. He has reached the semifinals three times (2007, 2008, 2011), and it is the only Grand Slam tournament where he hasn't taken home a title.

The Serbian is currently second with 9-to-4 odds to take home what would be his fourth-straight Grand Slam title.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer emerged victorious at the Madrid Open, and reached the semifinals of the Italian Open before losing 7-6 (4), 6-2 to Djokovic. After his win at Madrid, Federer's odds have improved considerably. He currently has the third best odds at 8-to-1.

The 30-year-old Swiss master took home the title at Roland Garros in 2009.

After those top three, the odds for the other competitors drop off significantly. Juan Martin Del Potro checks in at 20-to-1, while Andy Murray currently sits at 28-to-1.

It appears the oddsmakers are betting that Nadal, Djokovic or Federer will come away with the 2012 French Open title.
