Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea Live: Didier Drogba Nets Epic Equalizer

Five minutes after Thomas Muller handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 lead in the 83rd minute of the UEFA Champions League final, Didier Drogba evened the score with a strike of his own in the 88th minute.

Juan Mata's corner kick from the right side of the pitch set Drogba up for a flawless header from the near post.

Drogba's equalizer sends the matchup to a 30-minute overtime period followed by penalty kicks if necessary.

The Blues' goal came on just their sixth shot of the day, and just third shot on net.

Muller's goal to put Munich up by one looked like it could put Chelsea down for the count. The Blues' offense has not had much flow to it, and Chelsea has possessed the ball for less than half the match.

Drogba is known for playing big in big games.

He is a notable World Cup performer and a dangerous scorer whenever he steps foot on any pitch.

Scoring a goal on Chelsea's lone corner kick in regulation proves Drogba's big-play ability. Chelsea absolutely needed a goal, and the Ivory Coast native delivered for his respective squad.

Neither UEFA team has found their form and shape in this match.

It didn't look like either side was going to score the decisive goal. Instead, each team grabbed a huge goal at the perfect time.

Entering overtime, the game has been played in the midfield for the majority of the contest. Both teams have probed the other's ailing defense, but neither has found their offensive rhythm.

Petr Cech has survived the pressure put on him by Bayern Munich, and it is shaping up to be an epic finish in Allianz Arena.
