Another UFC 94 Article
So I'm late, but as the saying goes, "Better late than never!"
After pitching in five bucks to order UFC 94 on my friends 65 inch HD TV. I settled down on the blue bean bag chair on the ground. Patiently waiting for the mega-event to start. After making a small wager with my brother (20 dollars) on the GSP/BJ Penn fight (of course I went with GSP) the event started.
Nate Diaz/Clay Guida, this fight had excitement written all over it. But I was left thinking man, it wasn't what I wanted it to be. It was a good fight, but not like I'd expected. So I chalked it up, and moved on.
I was extremely anxious to see Karo back in action. But again, I was left feeling unsatisfied. He got dominated the first round, but came back midway through the second to secure the victory. I was glad to see him win, but not pleased in the way he did it.
Then came my upset fight, I predicted Jon Jones was going to beat Stephan Bonnar. Although my friends looked at my like I was crazy, I was right.
Jon Jones is as old as me, and has a TON of potential. He is going to be a real problem if he keeps working hard and improving. He dominated Stephan Bonnar the whole fight. This fight actually met my expectations.
Then came the fight I was sure was gonna make it to a decision. Lyoto Machida/Thiago Silva.
It started was I thought, but ended surprisingly! Lyoto reminded us of what he can do. As soon as the fight was over I was reminded of the Lyoto Machida that savagely knocked Rich Franklin out.
It made me a Lyoto Machida fan for life. I've always liked him as a fighter, now I'm officially a fan. Let's hope he gets his shot!
Then it was the main-event, the "Biggest" fight in UFC history. St.Pierre/Penn II. We were all anxious and ready for it to start.
It went just how I seen it going. GSP dismantling BJ Penn in four rounds. Just as I Expected (What To Expect From UFC 94) go ahead, look at it.
GSP proved he is an elite fighter, and all this fight did was make me want to see Silva/St.Pierre.
To all those BJ Penn fan-boys who say the Vaseline helped GSP win. I've got this to say, "Shut the F*** Up!!" (Pardon my french)
That Vaseline did not do anything, BJ was getting throttled, he was nowhere near a submission, you are just using that as an excuse. Get a life, BJ Penn is a great 155 pound fighter, and an average 170 pounder.
Granted the corner man should be punished, but the Vaseline had NO effect on the outcome. BJ just needs an excuse why he got man-handled. Stop cryin' like a lil' baby.
This pay per view was average, I got my money worth (only paying five bucks, 10 if you include pizza money) and I wasn't disappointed. I was just a little unsatisfied!
Random Thoughts
Was it me or did the Steelers look like they paid the referee's again? J/K I'm a bitter Seahawks fan! Congrats Pittsburgh...
Jon Jones 205 pound champion 2012? Anyone? He does have the potential!
Stephan Bonnar was always average in my eyes, now he's a permanent gate-keeper.
Machida/Evans and St.Pierre/Alves as the UFC 100 headliners? Sounds good to me. Maybe throw Penn/Florian in?
I read the article about BJ Penn retiring.... All I have to say is,"WOW!" He lost to a great fighter at a higher weight class, why would he retire? He's not past his prime, he just not in the same class as GSP. He'll be ok after he KO's Ken-Flo.
Thiago Silva got KTFO! I was left thinking, "Good God Almighty! They Killed Him!" (In my best Jim Ross voice.)
Well that's all for me. Thanks for reading!
