dave darbyFeb 2, 2009

No. 16 Purdue (17-4, 6-2) at Ohio State (15-5, 5-4)

Line: Purdue -2.5

Purdue moved within one game of the Big Ten lead with a 67-49 victory in Mackey Arena on Saturday. After a slow first half, Purdue poured it on in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Michigan by 19 in the second half. The run began after Michigan’s Manny Harris was ejected for throwing an elbow.

The Boilermakers continued their great defense and limited the Wolverines to 36 percent shooting. E’Twaun Moore again paced the Boilermakers with 17 points, including 5-5 from the line.

Ohio State is coming off a 93-81 victory over Indiana that was much like Purdue’s game against Michigan. Indiana led 39-37 at half before Ohio State pulled away in the second half. This game featured four players with 21 points or more, including the Hoosiers' Matt Roth, who was 9-11 from three-point range. Evan Turner paced the Buckeye offense with 29 points.

ATS

Purdue is 10-8 ATS, including 3-2 on the road.

Ohio State is 9-7 ATS, including 4-5 at home.

Ohio State is 7-2-1 ATS against Purdue in their last 10 matchups.

Ohio State got by Indiana with lights out shooting. If you shoot over 60 percent from the field, you should win the game. It wasn’t just Roth that was giving the Buckeyes trouble though. The Buckeyes kept shooting themselves in the foot with 17 turnovers.

Against Purdue, they won’t get the same open shots and will face a better offense that turns turnovers into points. Purdue has won its last three on the road and continues on here.

Dave’s Pick: Purdue -2.5
