Troy Polamalu: Without Him, the Steelers Wouldn't Be in the Super Bowl

Ok, as you all know, today is SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!! Which means a lot of people out there have some kind of bet going on with their friends and family. I know I do.

Let's face it people, the Steelers are going to win this game. If I had to explain my reason as to why I was going with the Steelers, it would be because of one person (well, probably four, but one person that never disappoints).

That person is the star defensive player of the Steelers, Troy Polamalu. If you don't know who Troy is, you've seen some guy on the field with hair growing out of the helmet. That's him. Polamalu is one of the NFL's highest-paid safeties.

Let's start of with the basics. Troy has been in the NFL for about five years. In that time he has shown dominance on the field. Career total of 435 tackles, seven sacks (total 50 yard loss), eight forced fumbles, and has had 17 picks (one being a pick-six).

Some people believe that as of this year he is a shadow of his former self, that he is in no way important to the Steelers franchise...Wrong. All great athletes have at least one bad year, and to be honest, this year wasn't bad. This year he still had a total of 76 tackles, and a pick or two. Now if anyone here is worried that this is true, don't be afraid.

The Super Bowl is here. The Super Bowl will either make or break a player. Either the pressure is too much, or the pressure makes you play better than you ever have. 

The Steelers wouldn't even be in the Superbowl had it not been for Troy's pick against the Ravens. You can name any of the Steelers players: Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, James Farrior. I won't disagree that they're good, but you can't say that without Polamalu, the Steelers would be here.
