Seahawks First Round Draft Possibilities: QB Mark Sanchez
Here is the current Seahawks QB situation. Matt Hasselbeck missed 9 games this season with multiple injuries. Seneca Wallace showed what he can do but he’s only a backup and Charley Frye, haha.
Matt Hasselbeck was great during the Mike Holmgren era but now it’s the Jim Mora Jr era. Now I know Mora said that Hasselbeck is our “point guard” but come April are you really going to pass up a future great QB for Hasselbeck who you never know what will happen. Plus let’s lay this situation out.
The Seahawks make a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for there first round pick, now you’re sitting there at No. 4 with Mark Sanchez available who in my mind is a better fit than Hasselbeck and Staffordfor the Seahawks. Then you could address OLor any other need with the pick we get from the Vikings.
Now Mark Sanchez is the best QB to come out of USC since Carson Palmer. The Cardinals got a bad off the field player in Matt Leinart. Sanchez has a lot of great attributes that will fit right in with the Seahawks. Matt Sanchez is a model NFL QB at 6-3 225. He has a great, strong arm but he also has great “escapability” which is key.
The Seahawks could use a WR, OL, DT and DB help but sense I think Crabtree will go to the St Louis Rams at two, Sanchez is the best fit for the Hawks at four. Tim Ruskellalready said he wont draft an OT with the fourth overall pick, there is no DT worth a fourth overall pick in this draft and the same for DB.
Plus with the Hasselbeck trade they could go after one of those other positions of need. Like a Knowshon Moreno or Malcolm Jenkins or Duke Robinson.
But if they wanted to they could sign Houshmandzadeh (8 million), and Haynesworth (10 (million), plus the 10 million for Sanchez and that’s all there big spending. The Hawks will be 20 million under the cap with all the FA contracts coming off the bored. Plus trading Matt saves another 10 million. That would get this team when healthy back to the superbowl.
Now this is one of many options for the Seahawks, let me just get that out there.
