One Idea That Would Make Ryback More Interesting to WWE Fans

Leonardo SplinterMay 12, 2012

In the late 1990s T.V. show Early Edition, Gary Hobson mysteriously receives the newspaper a day before it is actually published and uses this knowledge to prevent terrible events each day.

In the 1984 film The Terminator, a Skynet cyborg is sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor—the mother of John Connor (the future leader of a resistance movement against Skynet).

So what?

Have you seen Ryback lately? Besides squashing jobbers, Ryback seems to think he's a machine—a terminator. How else can you explain his arm movements, attire and exclamations to “feed me more”? Considering Ryback's Terminator-esque gimmick, perhaps he would benefit from a sci-fi storyline such as the one found in Early Edition.

Here's a potential sci-fi storyline for Ryback:

Ryback mysteriously gets his match results (with a description of every move that his opponent(s) will use against him) the day before his matches actually occur. Ryback then uses this knowledge to easily dominate all of his opponents and remain undefeated until he mysteriously stops getting match results.

Ryback wrestles on SmackDown. SmackDown is on SyFy channel. So, why not give SmackDown a dash of science fiction? What's the point of being on SyFy if you're not science fiction? WWE has fiction, but where's the science?

Anyway, considering that some fans view Ryback as a poor man's Goldberg, a sci-fi storyline would probably make Ryback more unique and possibly more interesting.

Is the potential storyline ridiculous? Maybe. But if Kane is allowed to drag Zack Ryder to "Hell," Ryback should be allowed to get tomorrow's match results today.
