Main Event Preview and Prediction
Bobby Roode (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
While many WWE fans have turned their back on TNA IMPACT Wrestling, it may be time for those fans to eat their pride and give it another chance, especially with a main event as great as Bobby Roode vs. RVD.
Rob Van Dam brings years of experience to the ring in what could be an amazing match of physical ability and showmanship. Add in the element of the ladder, and we could see the best RVD match in the last five years.
As good as RVD is, this is Bobby Roode’s time as champion. A win over RVD would not only make him the longest reigning TNA champion in the company’s history, but the rub from beating the ECW legend would get him over more with the mainstream fans.
Prediction: Bobby Roode wins
What They’re Saying
RVD took to Twitter to throw jabs at Roode and added one subtle reference that has any wrestling fans in the know laughing:
"Message to @REALbobbyroode-The ladder to success is a tall one, and no one gets higher than RVD.My match. You're Sacrificing the belt.
— Rob Van Dam (@TherealRVD) May 12, 2012"
Being one who has to chime in, Bobby Roode took to his own Twitter to respond to RVD and comment on the match’s stipulation:
"@TherealRVDdon't think you out smarted me.Ladder match? No problem. Nothing will stop me from becoming longest World Champion in TNA ever!
— Bobby Roode (@REALBobbyRoode) May 11, 2012"
While TNA has been terrible lately, popular radio show Ring Rust Radio points out that the company has a great chance to put on a legendary show:
"#BobbyRoode vs #RobVanDam, #KurtAngle vs #AJStyles and more great matches? When did #TNA #Wrestling get good again? #DontScrewItUp
— RingRustRadio (@RingRustRadio) May 12, 2012"
Undercard Match to Watch
Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles
There is no doubt that both Kurt Angle and AJ Styles are two of the best workers in the business, but their matches have always been even more amazing than fans could imagine.
With each man trying to sell the other's moves better, these matches tend to turn into an absolute war. WWE fans who may not love TNA will fall in love after watching this caliber of a match.
While there is a chance that the stupid storyline with Styles kissing TNA president Dixie Carter comes into play here, the hope is that it doesn’t take away from what could be an amazing match.
Prediction: Kurt Angle wins
