The New York Yankees Are Ruining Baseball

The New York Yankees are ruining baseball. Now, I am not a Yankees fan at all...I am actually a Red Sox fan, but this is not about hating the Yankees. I say that the Yankees are ruining baseball for two big reasons.

Reason No. 1: The money that they spend.

The way that the Yankees spend money is crazy... I know that they are just trying to get better but for crying out loud what they have done recently is crazy...the amount the spend on their big three this offseason makes me sick...When they signed CC, I was like ohh damn, they got a great pitcher.

But now they probably cant get much more after signing him... but I was wrong... way wrong... they end up signing the best position player available.. Mark Teixeira... and they also signed another good pitcher AJ Burnett... after that I was like wtf. How can a team spend that much money? How can they have that much money? In these economic times, I can't believe that.

For one thing, it is like spiting in the face of the rest of America because its like yeah we know everybody is going broke but we don’t want to help we just want to buy are way to a better team.

Sure, they could try to develop talent with the minor leagues, but why do it the good and hard way when they can just spend spend spend... its bullsh**... but that’s just the way the have always done it... but more then $423.5 million is just sick...

Reason No. 2: The aftermath of their spending

Spending like that may be great for the Yankees, but it has a huge fallout. When they spend like that it will make players that are good think wow look at the money the Yankees are giving players. Well, if they are getting that much then I should get more. Well that’s not a good thing because that’s just how it works.

When one pitcher sees that CC got all that money from that Yankees, that makes him think that he should get more money...and that means some teams can't sign him. That’s how it is in every position and every sport...it’s a bad thing, because the rising cost of players will make a less competitive sport, and that’s bad for both the fans and the league.

If the league becomes less competitive then ratings will drop and that means the money the league takes in will drop and so on. That’s not what we want. So what I'm saying is the way the Yankees spend is starting to and could lead to baseball being ruined and that’s not a good thing at all, because baseball is our pastime.

One way baseball could stop this problem is too make a salary cap. That would solve a lot of problems. Football has a cap and look at it...It is more competitive than ever. Just look at the Super Bowl...The CARDINALS are in it.

Hockey has a cap and now it's more competitive, but it is hockey its usually competitive anyways but still the cap helps...

So all in all I do feel the Yankees are ruining baseball, but it can be stopped. All it would take is a simple salary cap. That would be hard to deliver with the players union, but still it needs to be done.
