What Tag Team Wrestling Is, Was and Should Be. WWE Edition
Tag Team wrestling is a joke, I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, the WWE has bastardized Tag Team wrestling in the worst ways.
In years past tag teams were formed by wrestlers, not promoters, and would wrestle together in many different organizations over many years. Now that the territory system has gone the way of the dodo, tag teams are no longer a viable option for todays wrestlers.
Teams like the Road Warriors, the Fabulous Freebirds, and the Dudley's are what I'm talking about. A team that has been around more than five years does not exist in the WWE anymore and it's sad to see. I'm not counting the Hardy's as they no longer wrestle regularly as a tag team and now they are feuding.

Up until 2000 there were still tag teams that had been established in other places that existed in WWE. Now we have teams like Jesse and Festus, Miz and Morrison, and cryme tyme. All of which have less than three years together at most, and have no commonality other than attitude.
I like Miz and Morrison but if they want to be a tag team then lets see if WWE will let them stay together for more than another year. Some Teams are lucky to even win a tag title. Both Jesse and Festus and Cryme tyme have been around in WWE for a little bit and have yet to get a belt, whereas Jack Swagger is already one of the top three champions in the company.
The closest thing they had to a good team that might last was London and Kendrick. They held both the WWE and the World tag titles, one reign lasting almost a year. They were exciting and the crowd loved them, and what did WWE do, split them up to different shows.
How do they expect anyone to take their tag team division seriously when there is only two to three Tag Teams on Each show. Throwing together a couple of singles guys and giving them the belst like they did with kofi and punk can be a good story, but its been done too much in the past.
Last thought: I believe they should actually recruit more tag teams who have been established from other companies and sign them, and then let them remain a team for a few years to see what happens. first team on my list is the motor city machine guns.
