Bruce Bowen Snubbed Once Again From All-Star Team (Humor)

The All-Star reserves were announced today and to my surprise Spurs' forward Bruce Bowen was snubbed once again. After finishing in third place behind Amare Stoudamire and just missing out on being an All-Star starter, I figured he would definitely get in as a reserve.

I don’t know what Bowen has to do to finally make the All Star team. I would have thought his 2.8 PPG and .250 FT percentage would have done the job. Bowen is in his 12th year in the league, and I don’t know how many seasons like this he has left in him.

After hearing that he didn’t make the team, Bowen un-characteristically lashed out.

"I don't know if it was because I wasn't a first-round draft pick, I’m not a high flying dunker, and I don't go out and get arrested," Bowen said. "I believe in playing the game the way it's supposed to be played. When you play hard every game, and you go out and get the job done, you expect people to appreciate you.”

"You look at my body of work and what I've done for 12 years and you would think I would have made it at least once by now," Bowen said. "No disrespect to anyone who made the team, but how can anyone say that there are 12 guys more deserving than me.”

Bowen even made a modern day pop cultural reference, by referring to himself as the Susan Lucci of the NBA. Susan Lucci, a soap opera star, is notorious for after 18 failed nominations, finally winning an Emmy.

Bowen may not be as flashy as the Wade’s and Lebron’s of this league, but he has the right to be upset.

Bowen earned an All-Star spot this year and if he couldn’t make it this year, he most likely never will.
