Arsenal Are Saved by the Best Player in the World: Robin Van Persie

Callum D'SouzaJan 29, 2009

A superb ball is played in from Diaby, van Persie chests it wonderfully with his superb balance, steadies and fires with his shotgun of a left foot into the back of the net. Nothing Howard could do about it, it was just a superb goal from a superb player.

The mist came over Goodison park and Arsenal's performance as Robin van Persie spared Arsenal some blushes with a fantastic volley to ensure Arsenal snatched a point in their encounter with Everton.

Australian Tim Cahill had his goal cancelled out as Arsenal ensured Everton stay were there suppose to be, below Arsenal.

Robin van Persie was easily one of the best players on the pitch and his goal scored why he is Arsenals leading scorer this season. But it is the midfield Wenger should be worried about. They were disappointing and did very little apart from a few decent balls.

The midfied consisted of Nasri out wide on the left, Denilson on the right and Abou Diaby and Alexandre Song in the middle. Nasri at times looked very dangerous with the ball at his feet but the rest were sourly outplayed.

Diaby did play a terrific ball to van Persie for the winner which made his performance look half decent. Alexandre Song? Was he even playing? looked very weak whilst defending and his passing was astray. Denilson was just not strong enough but to be fair he was out of position on the wing but he did a much better job then Eboue would have.

Robin van Persie on the other hand was brilliant and put on a superb performance despite insufficient chances from his midfield. He has easily been the best player this season and it is a wonder that he has stayed fit.

If the Dutchmen can stay fit he will easily reached the well deserved twenty goal mark that he has failed to do since his horrific luck of injuries. Van Persie now obviously deserves the captaincy until Cesc Fabregas returns from injury. Van Persie is now one of the most experienced and oldest players in the Gunners youthful squad which has an average age of 21.

Van Persie also deserves the pay rise he has been asking for. The last thing Arsenal need is loosing their star striker to a bigger and better club. Arsenal should stop mucking about with renewing Eboue and go straight to van Persie.

A disappointing result for Arsenal but its better than a loss. Now Arsenal need to concentrating of beating scum.
