Kansas City Chiefs Free Agency: Biggest Needs to Fill After the 2012 NFL Draft
The NFL draft serves as the most effective way for organizations to fill out their rosters in anticipation of the upcoming season. The ability to scout college players over a lengthy period of time allows management to simplify the big picture.
However, there is no such thing as a perfect roster. There will never be one. Therefore, teams are mired in a perpetual whirlwind of aiming to tweak and upgrade their depth charts throughout the year.
That is the beauty of the NFL, and why it is king among the four major North American sports. With its clock always ticking towards different events ahead of the regular season, fans of the league are as engaged as those responsible for the teams themselves.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While it is still a mystery as to the specific direction that general manager Scott Pioli envisioned for the Kansas City Chiefs' 2012 draft, it is clear that bulking up in the trenches and adding depth across the board was a crucial part of his blueprint.
The Chiefs drafted two defensive tackles, two offensive linemen, two wide receivers, one cornerback and one running back. Out of the eight players, only nose tackle Dontari Poe is initially expected to be near the top of the depth chart.
The fact that Pioli and company failed to address more needs can be viewed in two ways.
Pioli either has enough confidence in his current squad to go to battle in 2012 as things stand, or the draft didn't unfold the way it needed to for the Chiefs to make plays on certain positions without too much of a stretch.
Either way, having ignored the more apparent needs at inside linebacker, safety and for a pass-rushing outside linebacker or defensive end, the Chiefs will now be busy pursuing undrafted free agents or scouring casualties from other rosters to fill these voids.
As of Sunday morning, the Chiefs are understood to have signed 10 UFAs with four others rumored to have inked deals as well.
