Rajon Rondo: Watch Boston Celtics Star Get Ejected from Playoffs vs. Hawks
If you're a Boston Celtics fan, it definitely wasn't the news that you wanted to read.
Rajon Rondo was ejected from Game 1 Sunday and likely to be suspended from the Celtics' second playoff match against the Atlanta Hawks.
With the Hawks up by just four points in the final minute, Brandon Bass scrambled for the ball on the ground and the Celtics' were called for a loose-ball foul.
Rajon Rondo, who was standing over the scramble, blew up at the call.
He was hit with a technical, and then another technical for bumping the referee with his chest—bringing about his dismissal from the match.
The Celtics would go on to lose 83-74.
The National Basketball Association always frowns upon contact with referees, and after Rondo chest-bump, punishment seems inevitable.
I can understand the passion; I can understand the emotion.
The game was on the line and Boston almost made a huge play, only for the referee to make an even bigger play himself.
But at the end of the day, no matter how right or wrong the call was, you can't touch the referee.
It's as simple as that.
Rajon Rondo should have known better and could well have thrown out the Celtics' chances with his ejected and likely suspension.
