WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Review: Brodus Clay, Cody Rhodes Steal the Show
I’m sure you didn’t shell out the $55 for the WWE Extreme Rules PPV to watch Brodus Clay and Cody Rhodes, but both wrestlers registered stand-out performances in Chicago on Sunday night.
After a weak performance from The Miz in a loss to Santino and a Randy Orton win over Kane, the fans were treated to an unexpected Brodus Clay match.
The WWE’s fastest-rising star faced off against Dolph Ziggler in the biggest match for the Funkasaurus to date. After competing in mostly squash matches, Clay was actually forced to show us his skills against Ziggler.

And skills he has, as Clay survived a relentless attack from Ziggler to hit him with the splash, clinching the victory.
With his hilarious intro, complete with dancers and a great song, this guy has all of the ingredients to become a star. Oh yeah, he seems to be an outstanding wrestler as well. The sky is the limit for Clay, and expect him to keep on punishing anybody that stands in his way.
After Clay’s win, it was an IC title match between Big Show and Cody Rhodes in a Tables Match.
After getting absolutely worked for the beginning of the match, he was able to recover with a Disaster Kick after being tossed into a table.
Big Show was walking on the apron when Rhodes kicked his legs out, and Big Show fell through the table. Ball game.
After the match Big Show was steaming, and he put Rhodes in a choke slam, tossing him through not one, but two tables. Unfortunately for Big Show, none of it mattered. Rhodes was clearly the better wrestler, and his stock is beginning to rise. Not as fast as Clay’s, but there is progress nonetheless.
Extreme Rules provided us with a brief glimpse into the future, and it’s clear that Clay and Rhodes are going to be a rather large part of it.
