NFL Draft 2012 Results: Reaction to Memorable Moments at Radio City Music Hall
There were tons of moments I will remember from the 2012 NFL draft, but some stood out more than others. These are the moments that caused social media to erupt in laughter, jubilation, amazement or disgust.
From the commissioner to some of the impact selections, it was an eventful three-day span for the NFL at Radio City Music Hall.
Let's take a look at the three moments that stuck with me most. I found them compelling, and I will pay close attention to what comes of each of them.

The Handshakes
Depending on who you ask, the hip salutations from Roger Goodell were either a good thing or a bad thing.
What They Said
Brian Buck - Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Anaheim Angels
"If Roger Goodell wants to clean up the game he should start by cutting out those embarrassing handshakes and hugs #awkwardwhiteman
— Brian Buck (@brianbuck6) April 27, 2012"
Jared Gaither - Sports Blogger - The Leopard's Bowtie
"Roger Goodell trying to win style points with handshakes and hugs...I see him tho...
— Jared Gaither (@RetroSuperJ) April 27, 2012"
My Take
I tend to agree with Gaither.
Goodell knows he isn't exactly popular with the current generation of NFL players. The best way for him to establish a better relationship with the future of the NFL, is by endearing himself to those that are entering the league.
It's almost like having that cool teacher in high school, that everybody respects and likes.
Even the bad apples in the class were more apt to behave while in the cool teacher's class.
I think that is what Goodell is going for. He's trying to shed the square image of the NFL.
It makes business sense, and it could prove helpful for the well-being of the next generation of players.
As long as Goodell stays on the up and up, it's a positive.
The Seahawks Took Who, Where?
When the Seahawks took the undersized Bruce Irvin from West Virginia with the 15th pick in the first-round, most were shocked.
What They Said
Watch and listen to Mel Kiper, Jr, Adam Schefter and Jon Gruden's reaction to the pick:
My Take
Irvin has a chance to be a great story because of his background and his ability.
If you watched the video, saw the draft live, or knew of the Bruce Irvin story, you are aware of his journey.
On the field he is undersized, but he has rare physical gifts. As a defensive end or OLB, his 4.5 speed is impressive. He reminds me a bit of former Raider, Lance Johnstone.
If he can overcome his past issues and unlikely path to the NFL, he will be one of the most triumphant and redeeming NFL stories in a while.
I'm rooting for him.
On the Money NFL Comparison
The Chicago Bears traded up five spots to take Alshon Jeffery of South Carolina with the 45th pick in the draft.
What They Said
After the selection, NFL Network's Charles Davis compared Jeffery to New Orleans Saints' WR Marques Colston. He used a video of both players to drive home his point.

My Take
I couldn't agree more. As soon as he said it, I thought to myself, wow that is right on the money. NFL draft expert, Mike Mayock seemed to concur.
Having watched a lot of both Colston and Jeffery, it is the best NFL comparison I heard through the entire draft process.
If the Bears utilize Jeffery in the right situations; allow him to learn the offense slowly; while still utilizing him in areas where his size and athleticism can dominate a CB, he'll have great success.
If Brandon Marshall stays together mentally and Jeffery is used properly, the Bears will have gone from one of the weakest receiving corps—to one of the best.
It's the truth, drink it straight.
