Hopkins vs Dawson Start Time: When and Where to Catch Tonight's Showdown

Brian MaziqueApr 28, 2012

The ageless Bernard Hopkins will battle Chad Dawson for the lineal 175-pound light heavyweight championship. This is a rematch of a fight that ended in a no-contest in October 2011.

In the first, Dawson dumped Hopkins on his shoulder after a clinch. Hopkins could not continue, and the fight halted in the second round.

At 47, Hopkins is 18 years older than Dawson, but no one would be shocked if he defeats Dawson.

Is this more of a credit to Hopkins or a discredit to Dawson?

In my opinion, it's a little of both. I breakdown the key to B-Hop's amazing longevity here.

Dawson needs a dominant victory in what is a no-win situation for him.

If he dominates, people will say he dominated a 47-year-old man. If he struggles or loses, the same fact will be used to discredit him.

Dawson's problem is that no one ever really looks good against Hopkins. He has tremendous defense and a solid chin. He possesses the ability to make fights ugly, and with Dawson likely to be pressing in this fight, this won't likely be a showcase for him.

Moreover, Dawson has only 17 KOs in 32 professional fights. So the chances of a KO win are small.

We'll have to see what happens tonight. Here is how and where to catch the fight.

Here also is HBO's write-up on the fight particulars.
