2012 NFL Draft Projections: Vontaze Burfict and Potential Mr. Irrelevants

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Other than being drafted No. 1 overall, there are few feelings on NFL Draft weekend that compare to that in which Mr. Irrelevant gets when he is chosen with the event's final selection.

Let's take a look at some potential seventh-round prospects in the running to be dubbed 2012's Mr. Irrelevant.

Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego State

A 6'3", 229-pound pocket passer, San Diego State's Ryan Lindley has above-average size and arm strength for an NFL quarterback prospect.

Lindley threw for 3,153 yards and 23 touchdowns last season with the Aztecs, and 3,000-plus yards in his previous two seasons before that.

Lindley's 10-inch hands and long arms make him worthy of a look for any team picking late in the draft, as he is among the Top 10 signal callers available this April.

Junior Hemingway, WR, Michigan

Michigan's Junior Hemingway hardly posted overwhelming numbers with the Wolverines during his college career, but he has promise as a 6'1", 225-pound wideout with a strong pair of hands.

Hemingway only caught 34 balls for four touchdowns last season, but he has a solid frame and good getaway speed. He posted 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press at the combine.

Hemingway won an academic achievement award at Michigan early in his career and is a consistently hard worker when it comes to his physical improvement.

Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona State

It was not all that along ago that Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict was being projected by Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay as a potential first-round pick.

Scouts and experts love a lot about Burfict's game and physical attributes, unfortunately his lack of discipline and control of his emotions has turned him into a toxic prospect, that few teams if any are interested in.

However this is the NFL, and talent is everything. If a team with the slightest need at linebacker finds themselves with a pick late, they could very well take a chance on the 6'1", 248-pound interior defender.
