2012 NFL Mock Draft: Complete Fourth-Round Predictions
Day 2 continued to be full of surprising choices, and as a result, there are still many players on the board who were projected to be selected in the first three rounds. Will those players be among the first players selected in Round 4?
It is very hard to know how anything will play out at this point, but these are my projections at how the start of Day 3 will play out.
96. St. Louis Rams: Nigel Bradham, OLB, Florida State
1 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 57
The Rams still really need to add a playmaker at linebacker, and Florida State’s Nigel Bradham is a tremendous value still being on the board in Round 4. Mississippi offensive tackle Bobby Massie would also make sense.
97. San Francisco 49ers (from Indianapolis Colts): Ryan Miller, G/OT, Colorado
2 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 137
At some point, the 49ers really ought to draft a right guard. After trading down, they could take a stab at Ryan Miller. Miami’s Brandon Washington also makes sense.
98. Baltimore Ravens (from Minnesota Vikings): Ladarius Green, TE, La.-Lafayette
3 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 49
The Ravens could target another playmaker in the passing offense and at tight end, and Louisiana-Lafayette’s Ladarius Green is of great value in Round 4. I do not anticipate him lasting long at the start of Day 3, and this could be where he gets selected.
99. Houston Texans (from Bucs, Eagles): Alameda Ta’amu, NT, Washington
4 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 129
I originally projected that the Texans could look at Ta’amu much earlier in the second or third round. I think he will be a serious consideration in Round 4. Mississippi offensive tackle Bobby Massie is also a possibility.
100. Cleveland Browns: Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin
5 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 40
The Browns still have yet to draft a wide receiver, but Wisconsin’s Nick Toon is very good value in Round 4, and would make great sense here.
101. Denver Broncos (from Jaguars, Bucs): Brandon Washington, G, Miami
6 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 71
The Broncos could use additional offensive linemen, and Miami’s Brandon Washington is good value in Round 4. Arizona wide receiver Juron Criner is another possibility.
102. Washington Redskins: George Iloka, FS, Boise State
7 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 107
The Redskins already needed safety help, and free-agent signee Brandon Meriweather’s recent DUI arrest does not help matters. It is somewhat surprising that Boise State safety George Iloka is still available in Round 4, and he makes sense for the Redskins.
103. Miami Dolphins: Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
8 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 63
The Dolphins could use a big receiver after trading away Brandon Marshall. Criner is good value in Round 4 and fits the bill for that need.
104. Carolina Panthers: Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska
9 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 82
The Panthers have yet to address their defensive line in this draft, and they need to. Crick makes sense.
105. Buffalo Bills: Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi
10 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 87
The Buffalo Bills already drafted one long-armed offensive tackle in Cordy Glenn, but with Bobby Massie falling to them in Round 4, they could go for another based on his sheer value.
106. Seattle Seahawks: Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
11 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 30
The Seahawks have had a horrendous draft to this point, but could at least make one great pick if they select Miami running back Lamar Miller, who I projected to them in last night’s second-round mock.
107. Kansas City Chiefs: Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State
12 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 78
The Kansas City Chiefs have shown interest in Kirk Cousins, including a private workout with him. They are in the market for a backup quarterback, and cannot wait any longer if they want Cousins.
108. Denver Broncos (from New York Jets): Antonio Allen, SS, South Carolina
13 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 75
The Broncos could definitely use another safety, and South Carolina’s Antonio Allen is the best available and a good value in the fourth round.
109. Washington Redskins (from Oakland Raiders): Shaun Prater, CB, Iowa
14 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 56
The Redskins really need secondary help, so drafting another defensive back makes sense here. Iowa’s Shaun Prater is good value.
110. San Diego Chargers: James Brown, G, Troy
15 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 95
At some point, the Chargers really ought to add someone to the offensive line. Troy’s James Brown would be a versatile and good addition in Round 4.
111. Chicago Bears: Orson Charles, TE, Georgia
16 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 67
The Bears need to upgrade at tight end, and I projected them to draft Georgia’s Orson Charles in Round 3. He still makes sense and is good value in Round 4.
112. Arizona Cardinals: Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State
17 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 103
The Cardinals have yet to draft an offensive tackle, which they really should. Andrew Datko would have been a much earlier selection if not for shoulder injuries that have derailed his past two seasons, but he has big upside as a developmental left tackle.
113. Dallas Cowboys: Josh Chapman, DT, Alabama
18 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 128
The Cowboys could use another nose tackle, making Alabama’s Josh Chapman a logical choice in Round 4. Florida’s Jaye Howard is another possible selection.
114. Seattle Seahawks (from Philadelphia Eagles): Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
19 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 61
Dennard’s stock has understandably plummeted since his arrest for assaulting a police officer, but some team is going to take a chance at some point. That team could be the Seahawks, who could use depth at cornerback.
115. Tennessee Titans: Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia
20 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 39
The Titans have yet to address their cornerback need, and Georgia’s Brandon Boykin will be a tremendous steal in Round 4.
116. Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Polk, RB, Washington
21 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 53
The Bengals have done a great job thus far getting value from this draft, and could do so once again in Round 4 by selecting Polk to add to the running back position.
117. Detroit Lions: Ben Jones, C, Georgia
22 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 50
The Lions draft on value, but could also use more offensive line depth, both of which lead to Georgia’s Ben Jones being a terrific pick for them in Round 4.
118. Minnesota Vikings (from Falcons, Browns): Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina
23 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 72
The Vikings should be looking to draft a wide receiver with this selection, and North Carolina’s Dwight Jones is the best available.
119. Pittsburgh Steelers: Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia
24 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 44
Minnifield’s stock has plummeted due to concerns about his knee following microfracture surgery, but he is well worth taking a chance on here as great value in Round 4. The Steelers need to add a cornerback.
120. Cleveland Browns (from Denver Broncos): Ron Brooks, CB, LSU
25 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 178
After all the talk of LSU’s Ron Brooks rising into Round 2, he is still available in Round 4—but it would make sense if the Browns look to add another cornerback here. Coastal Carolina’s Josh Norman is also a cornerback option.
121. Houston Texans: Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State
26 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 125
The Texans need to try to find a right tackle to replace the released Eric Winston, and Sanders makes sense as a late fourth-round choice.
122. New Orleans Saints: Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina
27 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 142
The Saints could use another cornerback following the departure of Tracy Porter, and Josh Norman would be a good fit here.
123. Philadelphia Eagles (from Green Bay Packers): Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
28 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 96
Adding another wide receiver here makes sense for the Eagles, and McNutt is good value late in Round 4.
124. Buffalo Bills (from Baltimore Ravens): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
29 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 90
Adding another wide receiver makes sense for the Bills, and Givens is a good choice late in Round 4.
125. San Francisco 49ers: Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami
30 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 85
The 49ers could be looking for another big, fast wide receiver to develop behind Randy Moss, and Streeter would fit the bill.
126. Houston Texans (from Pats, Broncos, Bucs): Chris Rainey, WR/RB, Florida
31 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 91
Adding a dynamic, explosive offensive player such as Rainey late in Round 4 could be a great choice for the Texans.
127. New York Giants: Keenan Robinson, OLB, Texas
32 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 86
The Giants could really use another playmaker at linebacker, and Robinson is very good value late in Round 4.
128. Minnesota Vikings: Julian Miller, DE, West Virginia
33 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 132
The Vikings could use depth on the defensive line, and West Virginia’s Julian Miller is a solid player who would be solid value late in Round 4.
129. Oakland Raiders: Tank Carder, OLB, TCU
34 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 105
The Raiders could use help at linebacker. Tank Carder is a tenacious, high-motor player who fits the Raider mentality.
130. Baltimore Ravens: Ronnell Lewis, OLB/DE, Oklahoma
35 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 116
Ronnell Lewis told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Ray Lewis is his favorite player. With him still being available in the compensatory portion of Round 4, he could entice the Ravens to add another outside linebacker as great value.
131. New York Giants: Brandon Mosley, OT, Auburn
36 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 104
The Giants need to address the offensive line at some point in this draft, and Auburn’s Brandon Mosley is good value at this point.
132. Green Bay Packers: Matt Daniels, SS, Duke
37 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 148
The Packers need to draft a strong safety at some point following the release of Nick Collins, and Duke’s Matt Daniels is the best available among those naturally suited to play the strong side.
133. Green Bay Packers: David Molk, C, Michigan
38 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 123
The Packers also need to bring in a center who can develop behind Jeff Saturday, and Michigan’s David Molk is a good choice to do so late in Round 4.
134. Minnesota Vikings: Jaye Howard, DT/DE, Florida
39 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 80
Howard is best suited to play the 5-technique defensive end in a 3-4, but he is tremendous value late in Round 4 and adds further defensive line depth.
135. Dallas Cowboys: Jarius Wright, WR, Arkansas
40 of 40Overall Prospect Rank: No. 77
Jerry Jones loves his Arkansas Razorbacks, and could be drawn to drafting one of their two big offensive playmakers in Jarius Wright or Joe Adams. Wright is the better talent, and gets the nod.
