Why Was Christian Cage Not at the Royal Rumble? I Finally Know!

Coming as a surprise to all of us, Christian Cage was not at the Royal Rumble. And many were shocked and awed when Matt Hardy turned on his brother Jeff Hardy. But why was Cage not at the Royal Rumble?

Well it is a very easy answer but is two parted. First off the WWE knew everyone was expecting it according to insiders from pwrestlingnews.com and wrestlingtruth.com.

The WWE felt if they surprised us by doing the Hardy vs Hardy angle that it would keep us watching to see when Cage would arrive. the No Way Out PPV is coming up and Cage is expected to be there, but we may may see a promo or two first.

It would be kind of coded similar to Chris Jericho's return, but not nearly as complicated or drawn out. Also he would be coming for Edge possibly, yet he is set to still be involved in the Jeff Hardy incidents too.

And the other reason is the biggest of all, he has not signed a WWE Contract yet. He was supposed to have gotten the contract weeks ago. But sites and insiders jumped on it and thought he would sign it already.

So the information that came out about Cage was possible things to happen, but if he is not under contract he can't compete. He is out of his TNA contract so he could show up in WWE anytime.

So I'd expect a No Way Out appearance, however a Wrestlemania 25 appearance may be likely too. The WWE and Vince McMahon want this year's Wrestlemania to blow the roof off and be the best one ever.

So a Cage return at Mania would be a possible idea. If Cage signs within the next three weeks it is possible that he could be at No Way Out and creative could write him in somehow.

However Jeff Hardy was supposed to lose his WWE Title at the Rumble anyway. So he was supposed to be in a feud with his alleged attacker. If it turns out to be Matt the whole time and not the original plan of Cage then a weird set up would happen.

Hardy vs Hardy would happen, which would be a brother vs brother. Yet if Matt is set to feud with Jeff then Cage would feud with Edge most likely. Which would then create another brother vs brother.

We all know Cage and Edge are not real brothers, just lifelong friends. And are storyline brothers in the WWE. However to fans it would be kind of weird to see two brother vs brothers.

And even weirder in the same show, SmackDown. So with that said, storylines may be mixed around if Cage signs soon. However, as of now he has not. But he does have a contract already.
