Ian HanfordJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NFL draft's first round is in the books. Future NFL stars were selected, and a few of these are in situations with tremendous potential.

These players' new teams will allow their talents to flourish and their full potential to be realized.

Trent Richardson

Richardson is the unquestioned top offensive option in Cleveland from day one. Richardson will be a superstar in the NFL, and it will not take him long to make it obvious.

The Browns are not going to win many games next season, but Richardson is going to get a ton of carries.

Cleveland needs Richardson to be the focal point of their developing attack. The spotlight and heavy workload will allow him to develop at a rapid pace.

Richardson is the perfect blend of power, quickness and speed. He can run north-south or break a highlight reel run down the sideline. His versatility extends into the receiving game, as well.

Richardson will be a three-down back with a small dose of Montario Hardesty mixed in. This situation will allow Richardson to reach his potential very soon.

Morris Claiborne

The Dallas Cowboys' bold move to grab Claiborne was exactly what the Cowboys needed. Claiborne is an elite cover corner entering a team without one.

Claiborne will pair with Brandon Carr as the team's starters right away. He has excellent ball skills, athleticism and play recognition.

Adding Claiborne shores up the Cowboys' most pressing need. The Cowboys needed a secondary of the same caliber as their solid pass rush.

The Cowboys pass rush will take some of the pressure off the Dallas cornerbacks. This will allow Claiborne to develop at a reasonable pace while still getting a lot of work.

Clairborne's dynamic ability will endear him to Cowboy faithful.

Michael Floyd

Floyd should be very happy to be an Arizona Cardinal. Floyd will pair with Larry Fitzgerald and face minimal pressure because of it.

If the Cardinals had a reliable quarterback they could make noise in the NFC. Floyd and Fitzgerald will be a lethal one-two punch and the Arizona defense is competent.

Floyd could have gone to a worse team and been the sole focus of opposing defenses. Instead, Floyd will face less attention playing next to one of the league's best playmakers.

This will allow Floyd to develop at a reasonable pace and realize his considerable talent.

Give Floyd a few years and the Cardinals will have the league's best receiving duo.

David DeCastro

DeCastro is a welcome addition to Pittsburgh's maligned offensive line. He will start immediately and star shortly after.

The Steelers have addressed their offensive line within the first two rounds for three years straight. DeCastro will join forces with Maurkice Pouncey and Marcus Gilbert, giving Pittsburgh a rock solid nucleus up front.

DeCastro will help protect Ben Roethlisberger and clear space for the Steelers committee of running backs. He is a polished pass protector with the mean streak needed to run block.

Pittsburgh was happy to see the draft's top interior lineman still on the board when their turn came. DeCastro is lucky to play for one of the NFL's best organizations.

The opportunity to play right away suits DeCastro's current abilities.
