Younger Brother of Vernon and Vontae Davis Arrested in Connection with Murder
Michael Davis, the 19-year-old brother of San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis and Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis, was arrested on Thursday night in connection with an assault that occurred in Petworth, Washington, D.C., according to a report from ABC-7 in Washington.
The report also states that Davis could be connected to "at least four attacks, including three that took place in a span of 27 hours Tuesday and Wednesday, including the murder of 66-year-old tourist Gary Dederichs." The suspect allegedly lives in the vicinity of the area where the bulk of the assaults took place:
"Police say Davis lives on Emerson Street NW, within the 10-block radius where the three attacks occurred. In response to the attacks, police stepped up patrol in the area of Emerson Street and went door-to-door in the neighborhood looking for information.
"
Vernon Davis sent out a cryptic tweet shortly after the news broke, saying that he hoped "he wasn't involved."
"Just got a disturbing call from back home in washington dc. A good day gone bad! Hopefully he wasn't involved!
