NFL Draft 2012: Philadelphia Eagles Day 2 Draft Targets

Dave StoesselJun 7, 2018

Now that the Philadelphia Eagles have their shiny new DT Fletcher Cox, which players could they target on second day of the 2012 NFL draft?

The Eagles currently hold three day-two picks, with No. 46, No. 51 and No. 88 overall. There are several good players still on the board, many of which could be potential targets.

I'm going to break it down by players the Eagles should and will be looking at.

Even before they took Cox in Round 1, I still believed that linebacker was the biggest need for this team. Therefore, I'm hoping the Eagles agree and will target a player at the position in Round 2. Other possibilities include CB, DE, WR and KR/PR (possibly a CB or WR who doubles as one).

There is also a chance that the team considers taking a quarterback on the second day, but I'm strongly rooting against that notion for reasons I've described previously.

Players I Strongly Want the Eagles to Target on Day 2

LB Lavonte David
LB Mychal Kendricks
LB Bobby Wagner
LB Demario Davis
DE Vinny Curry
DE Andre Branch
CB Brandon Boykin
CB Josh Robinson
CB Trumaine Johnson
WR T.Y. Hilton (PR/KR)

Players I Think Will Be on the Eagles' Board

QB Kirk Cousins
QB Brock Osweiler
WR Stephen Hill
OT Mike Adams
OT Jonathan Martin
OT Jeff Allen
C/G Ben Jones
CB Janoris Jenkins

Wild Cards:

TE Coby Fleener
OLB/DE Courtney Upshaw

If I had my choice, I'd love to walk away with Lavonte David, Vinny Curry and Josh Robinson. David would be our new SAM, Curry would make a great tandem with Cox and Robinson would compete for the slot CB position as well as return punts and kicks.

Unfortunately, all three of them will be second-round picks and we only have two. Therefore, I'd take two of those three players and go with either Demario Davis or T.Y. Hilton in the third round. There's a chance Bobby Wagner lasts into the third round as well.

If we land two players from my "strong list," I'll be extremely happy, especially if it's David and Curry.  Both players will go in the second round, but it's highly debatable that either of them will even be available at No. 46 or No. 51.

The only picks I'd be extremely disappointed in would be either of the QBs and/or Fleener. I just see no need or value in picking them. While I wouldn't be overly excited about an OL pick, I could certainly understand it as they could use some depth on the line.

However, if I had my druthers, I'd go defense all the way. Defense, defense, DEFENSE!
