Big Hits & Fluffy Hair: Mark Barron Is a Buc!
As the commish slowly trudged across the Radio City Music Hall stage, Bucs’ fans were sweating and anxious.
Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik and company were feeling the heat, hearts pounding and nerves tingling.
Big hits. Check.
Fluffy hair. Check.
With a draft day trade down in Buccaneer fashion, Tampa Bay came up with Mark Barron as their 2012 selection.
As a die-hard Buccaneer fan…I could not be any happier.
Barron is a wrecking machine and a Nick Saban-prototype defender. He was a leader on the number one defense in the nation, an animal in the air for an Alabama national championship football team and a passionate player with gruel and spunk.
With the recent loss of Tanard Jackson to a failed physical, Dominik made a powerful and impactful move for his new head coach, Greg Schiano.
Barron piled up 315-plus tackles, snagged 12 picks and broke up 24 balls in four seasons as a top-flight safety at Alabama.
Former head coach Raheem Morris described his safety crew as the wolfpack, with free safety Cody Grimm being the lead wolf.
With the addition of Barron, Schiano’s got another lead wolf and the Bucs are shaping up to have a pretty stout wolf gang in their new defensive backfield.
Barron stands as a dominating player. He hits with a nasty flair and brings the heat on each and every down.
Already craving for a playbook within 30 minutes of being drafted, Barron is hungry and ready to get to work to be the best safety in the land.
