Report: Browns Trade Up to No. 3

The draft hasn't even started yet, and already we have a trade that will shake up the top five. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer has the report:

The Browns traded one of their extra picks in the fourth and fifth rounds, and a seventh to get this done. Glazer is also reporting that Cleveland was afraid of Tampa Bay moving up for their guy, who has to be Alabama running back Trent Richardson. Glazer adds that Minnesota might not be done moving down yet.

Winners

Alabama RB Trent Richardson - Plain and simple, he gets paid more, and his new team shows just how committed they are to him.

Minnesota GM Rick Spielman - Spielman was trying to create a trade-down market for weeks, and it worked. He has recouped three extra picks, and may get more. At worst, he gets Matt Kalil or Morris Claiborne, which is probably who he was targeting anyway.

Cleveland - They get their guy. Extra darts on the third day don't compare to getting the player you covet in the top five. If they were convinced Richardson was the answer (clearly they were), then I applaud them. You collect extra draft capital so you have the freedom to make moves like this one.

Losers

USC OT Matt Kalil - He loses money and could potentially slide down the board to the Rams if the Vikings don't take him.

Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik - He loses one of his two targets at No. 5 and could lose the second if he is not willing to give Spielman picks in the same fashion Cleveland did.
