Come On Guys, Smarten Yourselves Up!!

CarlyluvsunitedJan 27, 2009

I was watching The Australian Open yesterday and was enjoying it to be honest.

Then the Andy Murray game came up and as soon as Murray walked onto the court I just had to turn over.

I know he is a tennis player. I also know that we should really just concentrate on his tennis playing ability, but I just can't help feeling a bit embarrassed for him with the way he looks.

On court he always looks like someone has thrown a grenade at him and he is the aftermath of such an attack.  He does wear all the right 'gear' and obviously gets paid plenty of cash for wearing it, but despite the quality clothing he still looks like a proverbial 'bag of excrement'.

Even when he does an interview, Mr. Murray is usually unshaven which doesn't suit him and his enthusiasm, vigour, and personality are non-existent.  He speaks in a dull, uneventful drone which hurts my ears and makes me cringe.

Now take a look at Rafael Nadal.  You could dress him in old newspapers and he would look great.  When he speaks it's with passion and keeps the viewer hooked on what he will say next.  He is very good looking so that helps, but having said that...what about Federer?

Personally, I don't find Federer that attractive.  But whenever you see him on or off court he looks like a million dollars and he too has a magnetic personality.

There are not too many scruffy, boring sportsmen in the world.  They earn such good money that the job of looking good is not hard with endless funds to finance it.

Cristiano Ronaldo is always drop dead gorgeous in his choice of clothes, even though he is an arrogant, selfish...

Micheal Schumacher was immensely smart in public, but like Murray he had a personality disorder, or rather it was non-existent, and his voice, GOD his voice could send statues to sleep.

I think Murray needs a revamp.  Smarten the guy up, teach him to be more appealing and magnetic to his audience, teach him to speak publicly in a better manner.

Why?

Because more and more people will warm to him. His number of fans will rise dramatically and he will feel better within himself.  The rise in support will boost his confidence and maybe, just maybe, it might be enough to push him that extra mile and enable him to win Wimbledon.

I am actually a fan of Murray's and hope he does win in SW1, but he is just short of where he needs to be and somebody needs to find whatever it is that has made Federer and Sampras such great champions.

I'm sure Murray has the ability, but he needs a little push from somewhere and I think a makeover of his whole persona will do the trick.
