NFL Rumors: Reported Draft Targets Sure to Leave Fans Disappointed
There are fan bases we can always count on to boo their picks on draft day. The 2012 NFL draft will be no different and we've already started to see hear a few names that certainly won't excite fans too much.
While we can typically count on Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets fans to bring out the boo birds in force, they're not alone this year.
In fact, both these teams could come away with cheers if the board falls a particular way.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
A few others won't be so lucky.
The Dolphins truly cannot win here. A faction of fans want nothing to do with Ryan Tannehill while others are simply desperate for a new quarterback.
GM Jeff Ireland made such a mess of things this offseason that they're in a true lose-lose situation and owner Stephen Ross is reportedly pushing extremely hard for a QB—not necessarily Tannehill, but a QB all the same.
The Dolphins have had bloody awful luck with second-round QBs in recent years (Chad Henne, John Beck, Pat White) and they simply cannot go down that road again.
Tannehill has great upside, but people aren't wrong to worry about him going top 10.
Sorry Dolphins fans, he's likely heading your way.
New York Jets
Sure, the Jets could earn some excitement if they find a way to land Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd, but that seems unlikely at this juncture.
Instead, reports out of Florham Park have Gang Green extremely interested in two of the "late risers" that the media has just gotten hip to: Whitney Mercilus of Illinois and Chandler Jones of Syracuse.
ESPN's on-site reports continue to say Jones is an intriguing option for the Jets and there is a ton of interest there.
Tony Pauline of TFY Draft Insider, however, is pushing them towards Mercilus:
"Hearing NY Jets looking hard at Whitney Mercilus/Illinois if they cannot move up/down from 16...Mercilus could go earlier than most think
— Tony Pauline (@TonyPauline) April 26, 2012"
The Jets have a huge need for pass rusher, but fans have reason to cautious of players with high floors and extremely low ceilings. Most people know not to discuss Vernon Gholston around Jets fans anymore.
Other, more proven players, such as Courtney Upshaw of Alabama or even guard David DeCastro of Stanford (and Floyd of course) would all be better options if available.
Jets fans are in for an interesting night—oh, and the possibility of trading up for Trent Richardson is all but dead.
Any Team Targeting Mark Barron
Look, the consensus All-American from Alabama is hands down the best safety in this class, but his stock has been strapped to a rocket and sent flying into space because of team need.
Barron will step onto the field and be a starter from day one, but he won't help anyone in deep coverage and he has limited upside.
This isn't the next Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu. Heck, he's not even the next Eric Berry or Earl Thomas.
The crazy amount of hype and attention being showered on Barron is going to leave (plug in any of the, oh, 32 interested teams) disappointed.
