Madden 13 Video: Watch Exciting Gameplay Trailer for Hit Football Video Game
If you love football and you love video games, generally speaking, you want Madden to be great every year.
Having said that, the trailer for Madden 13 has to whet the appetite of even the series' biggest critics.
It's true, it's just a sizzle trailer. What game isn't going to put its best foot forward in a video like this?
Nevertheless, I contend that there are some simple improvements that are noticeable here.
First, the fact that Jim Nantz and Phil Simms are replacing Gus Johnson and Cris Collinsworth is a major positive. The commentating in the Madden series has become very mundane, and almost completely void of conversational value.
This and the fact that EA will be employing the commentating engine from the FIFA series has me intrigued.
It's nice to see the series actually showing the commentators on-screen this year. It actually looks pretty natural.
Secondly, the graphics and animation look a little more crisp. The motion-blur—which should also be available in NCAA Football 13—adds to the visual effect.
Enhancements to the A.I, especially on defense, is another much-needed improvement.
The overall in-game presentation within a season or franchise mode wasn't shown. However, I hope that also receives an upgrade.
While it's still early—the game isn't released until August 28—this is a nice first impression for sports gamers.
Stay tuned for more coverage as information becomes available.
