Quan Cosby Says Andrew Luck Can Have His No. 12 Jersey with Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts fans who want to run out and purchase their new Nike-version Andrew Luck jersey need to hold on just a while longer while a minor detail is worked out.

Luck's number 12 that he wore at Stanford is currently under the ownership of journeyman wide receiver Quan Cosby. NFL.com's Albert Breer reported today that the pair might not have the problem working things out that last year's first overall pick Cam Newton did with incumbent Jimmy Clausen.

Cosby went a little Deion Sanders on us in saying the two might be able to come to some type of agreement.

"If it's important to him, then of course we'll try and work it out," Cosby said with a smile. "We want him to be comfortable and we want him to wear what he feels best in, because if you look good, feel good, you usually play good. Again, like I said, it's one of those things, I'm a team player, and we'll do what's best for the team."

Cosby is willing to do what's best for the team, but he might also be taking into consideration the feelings owner Jim Irsay has for the new franchise quarterback.

We can all relate, we laugh at jokes that aren't funny and say we don't mind doing tasks that we really don't want to do to appease the man who signs our paychecks. Such is the way of life when you have a boss, and most of us have one.

If you take Cosby for his word, he's being a good teammate, and he has no real attachment to the number.

Cosby's early gesture should be applauded by Colts fans. I will predict that Luck will say the number doesn't matter to him and will choose a new number for his NFL career like Newton did in Carolina.
