NFL Draft Order 2012: Powerhouse Teams Sure to Win Big on Draft Day
It pains me to no end, but the rich will most definitely get richer this week as the NFL draft kicks off, giving some already good teams a great deal of immense talent.
We are only hours away from the NFL Draft, and that means excitement will be met with a great deal of expectations.
The best teams in the league will be expected to keep it up by grabbing the best and brightest, filling needs and keeping the god times rolling right along.
Here are a few teams that I am confident will come away from the weekend giddy with the brilliant young players they just drafted.
Cincinnati Bengals
It's all about day one for the Bengals, who have two picks and may come away with a king's ransom in talent.
The Bengals will have two picks in the back half of the first round, where the value of talent is tremendous.
The key is building on the momentum built from their playoff season, and giving Andy Dalton another weapon in attack.
They could very well get one of the many wide receivers available at the time, including vertical threats like Kendall Wright or even Michael Floyd if he drops.
Offensive line help or a shutdown corner may also be found as well. Thursday can't come soon enough for the Bengals.
The Steelers are all set to contend again next season, but I am ready to see them put some extra polish on that defense in the form of Dont'a Hightower.
The linebacker is featured in many mock drafts as going to the Steelers. He comes in with great tenacity and passion for the game, but the best part is that he fits seamlessly with Pittsburgh's dynamic.
In a season or two, we will be talking about this pick as one of the best of the later rounds.
If we are talking powerhouses on draft day, the Ravens come to mind.
They sit perfectly at the 29th spot. The players that would solve their biggest needs can be found in later picks, leaving Baltimore with a great decision.
They can trade down and increase the loot, or they can just take the best player at the time. In this case, it could be a player like Harrison Smith, a spry safety that could one day take over for Ed Reed.
The Ravens are in the best of predicaments.
