Robert Griffin III: RG3 Will Succeed in Any System

There's a lot being made about whether Robert Griffin III can excel in the Washington Redskins' system.

However, there is no question that he can, because the Baylor quarterback has the tools to excel in any NFL system.

Griffin, the consensus No. 2 overall pick in Thursday's draft, has the legs to run a formation such as the Wildcat along with the pocket skills to succeed in the most traditional of offensive schemes.

While many are blindly comparing him to Michael Vick or Cam Newton, the fact of the matter is that he's a better pocket passer than either of these guys were when they entered the NFL.

Griffin showed tremendous arm strength, deep-ball accuracy, poise and leadership last season at Baylor, propelling the Bears to a 67-56 Alamo Bowl victory. He passed for 295 yards and ran for 55 yards in that game, while accounting for two total touchdowns. What's more, he completed 72 percent of his passes, which ran concurrent with his season average.

Griffin is more of a complete package than people give him credit for. He made some dazzling throws last season under heavy duress, exemplified by his game-winning 34-yard strike to Terrance Williams against Oklahoma on Nov. 19. In that game, he passed for 479 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 72 yards.

Griffin will fit nicely into Mike Shanahan's system because he will fit nicely into any NFL system. The more you watch him on film, the more you love him. Combined with his football IQ and character, I find it hard to believe he won't become a star down the line in the pros.

Relax, Redskins fans. The nightmares over the quarterback position have ended.
