WWE Smackdown 4/27/12 Results: Spoilers for the Go-Home Show for Extreme Rules

Chris HumphreyApr 25, 2012

Earlier this month at WrestleMania in Miami, SmackDown superstars Sheamus and The Big Show both walked out of Sun Life Stadium with championship gold after beating their opponents Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes, respectively.

For those who came out on the short end of the stick at WrestleMania, Bryan and Rhodes will get a shot to redeem themselves this Sunday at Extreme Rules.

Before we move ahead to Extreme Rules this weekend, what happened between the four superstars last night during SmackDown tapings in Grand Rapids, Michigan?

From WrestlingInc.com:

"
  • Alberto Del Rio beat The Big Show in a non-title match when Cody Rhodes interfered.
  • WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella beat Alicia Fox.
  • Darren Young and Titus O'Neil beat Ezekiel Jackson and Yoshi Tatsu.
  • Antonio Cesaro has a tryout match arranged from John Laurinaitis. He defeats Tyson Kidd in a solid match.
  • The Great Khali beat Cody Rhodes.
  • Ryback squashed local wrestler Jacob Kay.
  • Sheamus beat Mark Henry in a non-title match.
"

With this being the go-home show before Extreme Rules this Sunday night, this was a pretty weak episode of SmackDown, with the only thing saving it was the main event match between Mark Henry and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus.

Out of all the matches at this week’s tapings, there was one that caught my attention, as it made me scratch my head after seeing the end result in the spoilers listed in the source.

As arguably the biggest waste of a roster spot in WWE history, it didn’t make sense to give the Great Khali a win over Cody Rhodes when the former Intercontinental Champion should be getting a push into the main event scene.

In the end, the WWE is likely making Rhodes look bad heading into the pay-per-view so that he will likely upset The Big Show and win back his Intercontinental Championship that he held for more than 200 days in his last reign.

With only four days until Extreme Rules this Sunday in Chicago, who do you see coming out on top in the WrestleMania rematches between Daniel Bryan and Sheamus along with The Big Show and Cody Rhodes?
