Fedor by Fatality: Andrei Arlovski the Latest Victim
Great moments come from great opportunity.
That’s what Andrei Arlovski had on Saturday night, as he was given an opportunity to take down the best fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko.
A former UFC heavyweight champion, Arlovski needed to show the world that he hadn’t lost it, while Fedor was taking on a former champ for the second straight fight. His dominating 30-second knockout of Tim Sylvia led the “Maine-iac” to state, “It’s not even fair how good he is.”
This fight had the same result, but took about three more minutes.
Arlovski came out aggressive, trying to strike with Fedor standing up. They went back and forth for a few minutes before Fedor unloaded the right hand from hell on Arlovski’s face. There isn’t much to commentate on in terms of the actual action in the fight, because the fight wasn’t long enough to take anything away from it.
Fedor needs to fight Brock Lesnar or Frank Mir next, because there are no other heavyweights in the world who can hang with him in the ring/octagon. Especially Lesnar, who would give Fedor some problems in his first potential UFC fight.
The only way it will happen is if Dana White can manage to get Fedor over to the UFC, or if the two sides can come to an agreement and have a UFC/Affliction Pay-Per-View where they can fight to decide who the best heavyweight in the world is.
Everyone who has been saying that Fedor is overrated, hasn’t beat anyone good, or any of that other garbage can put their foot in their mouth now. In his last two fights he has made two former UFC heavyweight champions look like amateurs.
MMA fans worldwide deserve to see him fight Mir and Lesnar, and I hope that politics and money don't prevent those superfights from happening.
