Madden 2013 Cover: Megatron's Track Record Makes Him Better Cover Candidate
Can Newton's flashy, he's cool, he's fun to watch and he burst onto the NFL scene in 2011 in a big way, having one of the finest rookie seasons in NFL history.
But he's no Calvin Johnson. And he most certainly shouldn't appear on the cover of Madden Football 13 at the expense of Megatron.
Johnson averaged a touchdown catch per game. If we count the postseason, he finished with 18 touchdown receptions in 17 games.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Oh, and let's not forget the 1,681 yards he accomplished (with another 211 yards—yes, I said 211—in one postseason game.)
But it wasn't just the numbers he posted. No, it was how he posted those numbers, with jaw-dropping catch, after jaw-dropping catch, after jaw dropping catch.
The dude is surreal. Imagine creating a receiver in Madden, maxing out all that player's attributes and watching him materialize as a real human being that played in the NFL.
That guy still wouldn't be as good as Megatron.
If ever there was a guy worthy of being on the cover of a video game, it's Johnson. His combination of size, speed, agility, ability to contort in the air and hands that catch everything in sight are video game-esque.
So hopefully, NFL fans will have done the correct thing and voted Johnson to the cover. I'm not going to bother with all of that silly curse business, since curses aren't real.
Besides, the curse never got to Ray Lewis when he was on the cover. Maybe the curse gods feared him. And maybe they know they hold no power over a freak of nature like Megatron.
Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets always hit the spot, like Philip Humber.
