NFL Rumors: San Diego Chargers Must Trade Up for Mark Barron
The 2012 NFL draft is only one day away and the San Diego Chargers should have one goal in mind: trade up for Alabama safety Mark Barron.
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, such a move has been discussed by the Chargers among the slew of options they have on draft day.
"RT @Anthony_619: Any truth to Chargers trying to move up for Mark Barron? >They love him. They've talked about it, among other scenarios.
"
Such a trade could shake up the first round a bit, as the Chargers will need to move up from the 18th pick if they want a crack at Barron. From all indications, it appears the Dallas Cowboys will pick Barron at No. 14 to bolster their secondary.
San Diego cannot let that happen.
Barron is the class of the safety position in this year's draft and the Chargers haven't been strong at that position in quite some time. He can take the field and become a dependable starter in this league immediately.
That would be a great boost to this team's defense right off the bat.
It's a void that must be filled if San Diego wants to improve upon a disappointing season in 2010-11. With his potential, Barron could be the long-term solution coach Norv Turner is looking for.
It isn't easy to find a great safety through the draft who will enjoy success in the NFL. Based on that and the perfect fit that this pick would be, it makes it all the more clear the Chargers must make a move on draft day.
