Did Matt Hardy Really Betray Jeff Hardy Or Was He Only Protecting Him?
Last night the WWE Championship was contested between Jeff Hardy(c) and Edge. Vickie Guerrero, who is Edge's wife and SmackDown GM, came out before the match to tell the world it was a no Disqualification match.
She figured Jeff Hardy would get himself Disqualified to keep his WWE Championship. And, of course, Chavo Guerrero came out with Edge to help him out. But Hardy took care of him with a familiar weapon: a ladder.
While Chavo was on an announcing table, Jeff jumped off the ladder and drove Chavo through it. Chavo was out for the rest of the match. Jeff then got hot, taking it to Edge.

It looked like the beginning of the end for Edge after Jeff hit his patented Swanton Bomb. Once he went for the cover, Vickie stopped the count by pulling on the referee. Matt Hardy, Jeff's brother, soon came out to help out Jeff—or so we thought.
Jeff saw Matt and figured he was there to help, and while Jeff had a chair in the ring Matt figured he would get another. We all know about Edge's conchairto that he does, and we figured with the two chairs that it was coming.
But as soon as Edge was set, Matt had the chair and hit Jeff instead. This came as a surprise to both Edge and Vickie, as well as the rest of us. But was Matt behind all the attacks that happened to Jeff?
Maybe not. I mean while it is true Jeff did not see who attacked him in Boston at his hotel, he did see the car who hit him in the hit-and-run. If it were his brother Matt's car then Jeff or Beth one would have known it.
And then pyro was another case like the hotel incident where anyone could be involved. Maybe Matt was protecting Jeff. With all the attacks on Jeff, big brother Matt may have wanted to keep Jeff out of the spotlight.
Of course, Jeff would never leave the WWE or give up his WWE Championship. So Matt may have only done what he thought was right. By making sure his brother did not have the heart anymore to wrestle.
He would want to leave the WWE, and would want to stay out of the spotlight. So while it is true Matt could have been jealous of Jeff's success, he may not be behind all of the attacks on Jeff.
This raises the question of who is behind them? I believe it is Christian Cage. We did not see him at the Royal Rumble, as many thought we would. So there is still a chance he is behind all the Hardy attacks.
Cage has been enemies with the Hardys in the past and I'm sure it would work in a storyline. Now that Edge has the WWE Title, Jeff is clear for a storyline with him. He has not yet returned as Cage, but he is signed to the WWE as of a week-and-a-half ago.
Maybe he will be at No Way Out or we will see more clues to who it really is within the next few weeks. So let us not be to sure that Matt is behind everything here; he could only be doing what he thought was right.
