WWE News: Dana White Comments on Brock Lesnar Returning to WWE from UFC

Chris HumphreyJun 7, 2018

Following his sudden retirement from the UFC after his loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141, Brock Lesnar was instantly rumored to be heading back to where he became a household name: the WWE.

The rumors ended up being right as Lesnar made his return to the world of pro wrestling the night after WrestleMania 28 this month to attack John Cena on the Raw SuperShow.

In a press conference after UFC 145 this past Saturday night in Atlanta, UFC president Dana White gave his opinion on his former heavyweight champion leaving the MMA company to return to the WWE.

"When he did the deal with the WWE, all the rumblings started with you guys," White told reporters. "He never called me. He never told me. He didn't have to. It was always up front and said in his deal, he could do the WWE." White added, "I'm happy for him. To do what he did in the WWE, came here and did what he did, now he's back over there. Good for him; good for them."

Despite White's very politically correct answer about Lesnar returning to the WWE, I bet White was happier than we will know after seeing the former UFC Heavyweight Champion retire from MMA last December.

In the earlier part of his career in the UFC, Lesnar broke out to a record of 5-1 with huge wins over then heavyweight champion Randy Couture followed by successful title defenses against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

Following battles with illnesses near the end of his run with the UFC, Lesnar dropped his final two contests as he lost the UFC Heavyweight title to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 with the aforementioned loss to Overeem last year.

If Lesnar were to have remained in the UFC, the UFC president would likely have had to fire Lesnar from the UFC, as he probably would have dropped his third decision in a row.

With his match against John Cena this Sunday at Extreme Rules, could Lesnar have bounced back and continued his UFC career, or did he make the right choice returning to the WWE?
