Mayweather vs. Cotto: Money Will Cruise to a Dominant Victory
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is going to pick apart Miguel Cotto, wear him down and win with a dominant unanimous decision.
This fight will go the distance simply because Cotto is tough as nails. Mayweather will not be able to knockout his rugged competitor, but the styles and talent level leave little doubt who will be the winner.
Cotto thrives with a brawling style. He is a straight-ahead puncher that likes to work the body and is not big on movement. In other words, he is relatively easy to hit.
This will be a fatal flaw as he faces Mayweather. Money has an easy time hitting any opponent. His contact rate on his punches is exceptional. His accuracy is amazing and he knows how and when to throw punches.
He is going to have his pick of places to attack with the stationary Cotto. This will rack up the points and drain Cotto's stamina.
For Cotto to have a chance, he is going to have to pin Money down and batter him with flurries of punches. The problem is that this is an impossible task.
Mayweather is one of the sport's all-time greats when it comes to defense. He is an elusive target, and Cotto is going to have a hard time landing any initial blows to lock Money against the ropes.
Money also enjoys a significant advantage in hand speed. This will allow for his elite counter punching to be a prominent factor in this fight.
He will bob and weave as Cotto throws punches and wait for the right moment to strike back. This will keep Cotto from getting into any rhythm or gaining any momentum.
This fight will have flourishes of excitement, but will be dominated by Mayweather keeping the fight at a distance and surgically picking his spots to dismantle Cotto.
