Ryan Tannehill: 2012 NFL Draft Prospect's 5 Best Video Highlights

David LevinJun 7, 2018

We haven't seen much of him lately, but we sure as heck have heard a lot about him.

Ryan Tannehill may be the most talked about quarterback in the upcoming NFL draft that is not named Luck or Griffin.

And he hasn't been able to show us much of his talent due to injury.

The Texas A&M product has been listed as the best passing prospect after the "Big Two" for some time now and as the draft nears, his stock is continuing to rise.

You can thank the importance of landing a good passer to your team as the reason teams may take a chance on Tannehill, a 6'4", 221-pound thrower, as early as the third pick in the draft, should a team try and make a trade with Minnesota to choose from that slot.

According to CBSSports.com, Tannehill is rated as the eighth-best prospect right now. Here are some reasons why he will be such a success in the NFL in the future.

Against the Tigers, Tannehill looked comfortable from the empty set as he sent five receivers in motion.

His poise was evident as he fired the ball across the middle to the open receiver.

Tannehill will have to do that with bigger and faster linemen coming at him on a regular basis in the pros.

Running for Daylight

Against Oklahoma State (and Brandon Weedon), Tannehill not only showed he has a good pocket presence, but he also has some pretty good footwork.

Tannehill took off across the middle of the field to daylight and scored. It will be that kind of mobility that will help him when the pocket collapses and the rookie will need to turn a negative play into a positive one.

Arkansas 2011

Tannehill's ability to move out of the pocket, do a half roll and then set his feet and fire the ball down field is impressive.

On play action, it will be key for Tannehill to be able to not only move to his left, but read a defense as he does so.

While it may not have been his best performance of the year, Tannehill did show his ability to stand in the pocket and throw passes where the receivers were the only ones who could catch the ball.

The best thing about a quarterback is his accuracy and ability to throw on a rope in small seams and areas.

Tannehill can do that.

The Undisputed Leader

5 of 5

Tannehill was the undisputed leader of this team last season.

He was able to fire his teammates up and show the way to the end zone. You could see his fiery ability in celebration and when the team missed its mark.

Those kinds of qualities cannot be taught, they are instilled from within.
