Hopkins vs. Dawson: Dawson Defeats Hopkins by Decision, Calls out Andre Ward
Bernard Hopkins dropped a majority decision loss to Chad Dawson in what may be Hopkins' last fight.
The 47-year-old Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO) was out-jabbed, outboxed and generally outworked the entire 12 rounds by the 29-year-old Dawson.
Despite Hopkins managing to cut Dawson above his left eye with a headbutt in Round 4 and later above his right eye, Dawson still went to the body undeterred.
Hopkins attempted a lengthy list of antics to jostle Dawson's nerves including sticking out his tongue in mockery of his younger opponent.
Not only was Dawson not bothered by the buffoonery, he even managed to wobble the usually sturdy Hopkins in Round 8.
After the fight, Dawson called out Super Six Winner Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO). Ward, a current champion at 168 lbs, has recently contemplated moving up to 175 lbs.
With Hopkins dethroned as Ring and WBC champion, Dawson is the official man to beat at 175, and all roads lead to him.
Ward is a very skilled fighter who Hopkins considers to be his pupil. Ward could seize the moment to avenge his master's defeat sometime this year.
