Bayern Munich Transfers: 9 Big Names Linked to German Giants This Summer

Bayern Munich have had one heck of a week. Although they have no chance to claim the Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund already having locked it up, the Bavarian giants are now staring at a chance to claim European club football's ultimate prize.

After a thrilling ousting of heavily favored Real Madrid thanks to two magnificent saves by Manuel Neuer and rock solid poise from Bastian Schweinsteiger in the final spot kick, the Germans are capable of anything.

The UEFA Champions League final now calls the club home, literally. If Bayern were to win the UEFA Champions League in front of their own home crowd it would be magical beyond belief.

Not only would it be their fifth European championship, but it would surely give them even more clout in the summer transfer market than their rich tradition and pedigree already affords them.

Edin Dzeko

Manchester City only just acquired Eden Dzeko just under 18 months ago from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

However, the player's frustration at a lack of first-team action could see him take an escape route back to Germany if it becomes an offer on the table.

Bayern Munich have been linked with the 26-year-old according to the Daily Mail for an estimated fee of around £20 million plus additional options.

It is thought that he could be headed to Bavaria to fill the boots of 32-year-old Ivica Olic whom is expected to leave Munich in the summer.

Junior Hoilett

Young Blackburn Rover's starlet Junior Hoilett has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich since early February of this year.

Metro claimed that the Bavarian club where interested in him at that time and recent reports from the Daily Mail have confirmed that he is indeed still one of the club's transfer targets.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Another prime-aged striker that has been linked with Bayern is Schalke 04 and Dutch attacker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

ESPN Soccernet has claimed that Juventus as well as Bayern could be set for a fight to sign the striker should he have an excellent showing for Holland in this summer's Euro 2012.

Xherdan Shaqiri

One thing that is for certain is that the club's capture of Xherdan Shaqiri is already complete.

The young Switzerland international made a name for himself and Bayern snapped him up during the winter transfer window, but he has remained on loan with former club FC Basel for the rest of this campaign.

SI.com has called the Bavarian club's capture of Shaqiri a coup, and they couldn't be more right as he is a major steal.

Dries Mertens

Liverpool were thought to be closing in on the possible acquisition of PSV Eindhoven's 24-year-old Belgian starlet Dries Mertens this past March.

However, The Sun claims that Bayern Munich has rocketed to the top of the list of clubs vying for Mertens' signature.

Dede

Vasco da Gama's 23-year-old Brazilian defender Dede looks to be at the center of a tug of war between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The player is rated as one of the best young defenders in South America, and has also been targeted by mega-rich Russian club Anzhi.

TalkSport believes that he is going to go to whichever one makes the swiftest move once the summer market opens up.

Adriano Correia

Barcelona's out-of-favor Brazilian utility player Adriano Correia has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich or possibly even to Italy this summer.

A lack of playing time in Spain have seen him start to look forward to a future somewhere outside of the Camp Nou this summer according to Goal.com.

Nicolas Gaitan

Benfica's Argentine midfielder Nicolas Gaitan has been a long-standing target for Manchester United.

However, GiveMeFootball.com recently revealed that Bayern Munich has entered the race for the 24-year-old playmaker's services.

Mauro Caballero

Paraguayan star Mauro Caballero has attracted some major interest from multiple clubs in Europe.

Both Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been linked to the 17-year-old Paraguayan U18 international according to tribalfootball.

Caballero impressed in the Copa Libertadores for Club Libertad, and he is currently estimated to be worth close to £5 million.

Conclusion

Bayern Munich have a chance to make themselves almost irresistible if they can manage to see off Chelsea to win the Champions League final.

The mere fact that they eliminated Real Madrid is enough to convince many that the Bavarians have a lot to offer.
