Barcelona vs. Real Madrid: Rematch in Champions League Final Is Best Scenario
Barcelona versus Real Madrid is back, and when El Clasico produces matches like yesterday's thriller, it's hard for any rivalry to compete.
OK, El Clasico was never really "gone," but Real Madrid's 2-1 victory reminded us all how fun it is when Barca goes up against Los Merengues. And it proved exactly why non-Chelsea and non-Bayern fans should be rooting for as many El Clasicos as possible.
Most notably, I'm talking about the upcoming Champions League final.

Both Barca and Real find themselves trailing heading into the second leg of their respective semifinal matches, but after watching today's match, I know exactly who I'm rooting for.
I'm rooting for Barcelona and I'm rooting for Real Madrid. Because I want to see their beautiful, open, up-tempo styles go up against each other.
Nothing against Chelsea or Bayern, because they are both playing terrific football right now, but there's just something special about El Clasico. Every time it happens, it's some of the most exciting and clever football you'll get to watch.
In the recent past, Barcelona's domination over Real has made the rivalry less appealing for anyone outside of Spain. Barca is able to control the ball so easily they make it a little boring.
The way they play is beautiful, but it's not something you root to see. But yesterday, I saw something different. I saw Real playing the exact same way. I saw a team that wasn't afraid of Barca. I saw a team that could control the ball, control the pace, and not just rely on sitting back in defense.
Barcelona still controlled possession, but Real played just the way they wanted, and it worked.
If Real continues to play like they did yesterday, the rivalry will be at an all-time high, and the Champions League final is the perfect place to continue it.
This is like the Red Sox and Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
Duke and North Carolina in the NCAA final.
What's more, Ronaldo versus Messi would be like Tom Brady versus Aaron Rodgers in the Super Bowl.
I understand the world gets its fair share of Barca-Real matchups in La Liga, but this would the biggest rivalry, maybe ever, on the biggest stage. It doesn't really get much better than that.
