Does Carlos Tevez Need Manchester United with Dimitar Berbatov Taking Charge?

Ayonij SanthanamJan 25, 2009

So many of us have already had enough of this Tevez issue. Will Sir Alex sign him permanently? Will he utilise an awesome foursome involving Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo, and Berbatov in the same squad rather than last season's holy trinity which encompassed Rooney and Tevez up front with Ronaldo making his crazy runs and scoring goals for fun? Or will he just let him go?

Well, apparently Sir Alex Ferguson is quite simply using a rotation policy which is supposed to keep all three strikers "happy"; but how many of us can deny the fact that its the Rooney - Berbatov combination in front that is growing and developing with Tevez coming in for one or two games here and there. And if one of the strikers is injured he is given a chance to "PROVE HIMSELF!" "MAKE A POINT!"

Where I am concerned I do not think that the Argentinean has anything to prove. He was a real difference maker last season and it was he who started this season as our best player. In the half hearted efforts by the rest of the team, it was Carlitos Tevez who stood out and played like a feraless bull, charging at defenders and scoring crucial goals in the nerve racking final few minutes of games

He reminded me to a certain extent reminding me of the "Baby Faced Assassin" and United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I realized that he was the sort of player that United truly needed—A Mr. 110 percent and a somewhat "natural" goal scorer! Especially at the death!

However for some reason unknown to me more talent was brought into the squad in the form of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.  Don't get me wrong; I'm very fond of Dimi too, but I still felt that his arrival at Old Trafford did not particularly help Manchester United to get more goals at a time when they were struggling for them and nor did it give anything to the fans to really rave about.

More often than not, one would see Rooney and Berbatov upfront with Tevez being made to rot on the bench. To me, it almost felt as if Tevez was being ROBBED! Berbatov may be performing very well off late but my question is—Does Tevez really need Manchester United in this situation?

We know that unless Berbatov or Rooney go through a real downward spiral in their career, Tevez is never going to consistently feature in the United squad. Secondly having Berbatov who is supposed to be at his peak age for a striker (27-31) and cost Man United as much as 30.76 million pounds, in a real rotation policy makes no sense!

In the process I can only see Tevez's future fizzling out at Old Trafford even though we all know he is a gem of a player—who is of his own kind, not really comparable to Rooney or Berbatov.

To sum it up I really do not think Carlos Tevez needs Manchester United. Any player would want to be actively involved in winning trophies and medals for his team rather than being on the bench most of the time hoping for a start sometime.

I feel Tevez is real quality and if he does not get more from United, he is going to walk away and why not; he has a number of reasons to do exactly that! Some may call this an irrelevant topic but guys this is something we need to discuss because if we let the bull go, we will regret it forever!!
