London Marathon 2012: Start Time, Weather and More
Sunday, April 22, runners from across the globe will be partaking in the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. There will be four major events: Elite Men's, Elite Women's, Men's Wheelchair and Women's Wheelchair.
Here is everything you need to know about the marathon:
Participants
35,000 runners will be participating in the annual event.
Marathons generally receive unbelievable showings from people who expect to be in contention, others who just want to see if they can finish and, of course, people who run for charity.
The 2012 London Marathon will see thousands of runners for several reasons.
Start times
The Elite Women's race will begin proceedings at 9 a.m., the Wheelchair Race will begin at 9:20 a.m. and the rest of the field, headed by the Elite Men's race will start at 9:45 a.m.
All times are local times in London. The races will begin at 4 a.m. ET in the United States.
Weather
According to Simon Head of the Daily Mirror, the weather should be particular nice for participants. They could be looking at temperatures around 50 degrees with a chance of getting into the high-50s.
With only a 20 percent chance of rain and a slight 10 mph breeze, runners should enjoy ideal conditions if the rain holds off.
Route
Runners will begin at Greenwich Park. They will run the 26.2 mile course and end at The Mall, which provides a truly beautiful setting.
This interactive map does a great job of detailing the entire course.
TV and Radio Coverage
The London Marathon will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC One HD, Radio 5 live and online, according to the Daily Mirror.
