Charles N'Zogbia Wants Dream Move to Aston Villa

Ryan WhiteJan 25, 2009

Charles N'Zogbia, one of Newcastle's biggest stars, has pleaded with the club to lower the price tag on him to force through a move to Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old has stated he is fed up at St. James Park, and has said that no one can improve the club.

The young Frenchman has been linked with moves to Arsenal in the last couple of months, and is now desperate to leave the Magpies to further his own career.

Speaking to Foot Mercato, N'Zogbia said, "I’m still in stand-by, waiting for the club to make a decision. We did everything to put the club that are interested in contact with Newcastle.

"But it seems that something is frozen on Newcastle’s part. They have the cards in their hands. It’s just about a good offer being made.

"The club is asking for too much money. All we can do is wait and see.

"The clubs that are interested remain the same, but it’s tough because they are asking for a ridiculous sum of money."

To Which Club?

As for where he wants to go, he has a couple of options open to him.

"Arsenal and Aston Villa are top teams in the English league, so I’d be happy to join them," he revealed.

"I don’t have a priority. Both are good clubs, but I have a little preference for Aston Villa. They have been improving as a team in the last few years, which proves that they can do well.

"I don’t think (that being in Villa’s starting XI is easier than in Arsenal’s), and it’s a young team. Aston Villa’s manager is a good coach, according to my friends. I think he could make me better."

The 22-year-old has also been linked with French champions Lyon in the past, and has not ruled out the possibility of a move to Olympique Lyonnais.

"The door is not closed to Olympique Lyonnais. Perhaps after speaking to Newcastle their interest was not as strong as it used to be. I don’t know what happened, but the door remains open," he said.

"I’m not upset (to be linked with a host of clubs). If a transfer is meant to be, that’s good news."

Dream Move

It seems very likely that if N'Zogbia doesn't get his dream move to Aston Villa during this transfer window, he will make a move to his preferred destination in the summer, with clubs keeping a keen eye on the situation.

"If I don’t leave in January, we’ll discuss things again regarding a summer move. Every year it’s the same—the club tell us the same thing. We reach the half-season and it’s always the same.

"I’ve been listening to the same thing for four years. I’ve had enough," concluded the former Le Harve youth.

It is not known how keen Martin O'Neill is to bring the talented winger to Villa Park, Villa are desperate to bring someone in to replace Nick Shorely who has been on the subs bench over the last few months with Right back Luke Young taking his place at LB while Reo Coker fills in the gap at RB.

It's believed the future of Shorely is in doubt at the club and with reports of Bale, Baines and now N'Zogbia to the club it seems Martin O'Neill hasn't got the magic to revive the former England International.
