NFL Draft 2012: 8 Predictions for the Draft's Final Day

David LevinJun 7, 2018

It's Saturday. For the NFL big shots who will be making choices in rounds 4-7, this is where the fun begins.

While all the marquee names have been plucked off the line and the real estate grows thin, there are still some talented players on boards across the league who will hear their names called.

Remember, Ryan Mallett wasn't chosen until the third round.

And while there are plenty of players to choose from, there will also be deals done, shocking announcements and, of course, "Mr. Irrelevant."

Here are some predictions for the NFL Draft's final day.

The Texans Trade TJ Yates

1 of 8

The Texans have three viable quarterbacks, and only one who has any value right now on the market.

Yates is the winner by default.

He proved he could lead a team into the playoffs and succeed. Now, with Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart coming back from injury, Yates will pine away on the bench.

The Texans can trade him away and get some value for him.

Steven Jackson Gets Traded for a 2013 First Round Pick

2 of 8

This actually could happen the first night of the draft, but I am thinking it will happen in the middle of the event—Jackson traded to a team that needs a star runner (Detroit) for a future first round pick (2013).

The Rams will have already traded up to select Trent Richardson or have reached for Doug Martin in the second round.

Jackson will enjoy being on a potential Super Bowl and playoff team.

The Jaguars Use a Fourth Round Pick on Janoris Jenkins

3 of 8

If he is there, and that is a big "if," then why wouldn't the Jaguars take a gamble on him?

Actually, every team needs to take a gamble on him, because no matter how bad he may be off the field in the past, he is that much better on the field as a player.

He may be the best defensive back the Jaguars have ever had—and that is saying something.

Jerry Jones Does Something to Confound Us

4 of 8

It wouldn't be the draft without something from good old Jerry.

What if he names Kyle Orton the starter, or he wants Jimmy Johnson to come back and coach?

What if he, and wait for this, decides he needs a real general manager to run the team?

Jerry wouldn't be Jerry if there wasn't some kind of craziness.

The Saints Still Have a Great Draft

5 of 8

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Saints land a stud in the third round and continue to be the league's best team.

For some reason, this team has been given much karma from Hurricane Katrina, and it has carried over to now.

If they got a Chris Rainey in the third round, Gerell Robinson in the fourth and someone like a Jake Bequette in the fifth, this team will restock and reload.

Now, if they could only get Drew Brees under contract for another five years. . .

Terrell Owens Finds His Way on Camera

6 of 8

We miss him, or do we?

There is a quiet storm about him. We haven't heard how great he is or what he has been doing lately, unless it dealt with his financial situation or his child support.

Yes, I guess you could say we miss the "old" T.O.

If Owens ever signs again with an NFL team, it actually will surprise me. However, he is still a talent and, well, someone might take a chance.

Daniel Snyder Drafts Two Quarterbacks

7 of 8

The ghost of Heath Shuler still haunts the Redskins.

I could see this team rejoice in the fact it drafted Robert Griffin, III, and then Snyder pulls some shocking move, like drafting someone like Kellen Moore, whose college career was more decorated overall (except for that Heisman thing).

Snyder is the kind of guy who will surprise us all. I think Eddie LeBaron may still have some pep in his arm.

Matt Moore Is Traded on Saturday

8 of 8

If the Dolphins draft Ryan Tannehill, does that mean Matt Moore is shipped elsewhere?

I could see him in Green Bay as Aaron Rodgers' backup.

Moore actually played well last season, but the team was not that good. He does not strike fear in defenses.

But then again, how can a rookie quarterback who did not workout over the offseason strike fear in anyone?
