2012 NFL Draft: Are the Indianapolis Colts Overly Hyping Andrew Luck?
The Indianapolis Colts have the No. 1 pick and will gladly take Andrew Luck with it, and it seems they can hardly wait to do so.
You can almost sense the need to sell t-shirts and other paraphernalia. Now that the Colts have made their choice of a new shiny toy, they want to play with it as soon as possible.
Take the latest tweet from owner Jim Irsay, which is hard to clearly discern, save the overall giddiness that surrounds Andrew Luck.

"For $200 n NFL football signed by Andrew Luck! Abbys pick!!!! Good LUCK!

It figures.
As ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, the Indianapolis Colts will indeed make Andrew Luck the top pick, ending months of the most boring speculation known to drafts worldwide.
We all knew Luck would be a Colt, and it was just a matter of time. Now comes the hype and hoopla surrounding a player that is, not only the best QB on the board, but one that is demanded to take over for no less than a legend.
If the question is whether they are over-hyping Luck, I would say yes, but temper it with a they have to.
I fully expect to hear a great more about Luck in Indy from the organization in the next week, and a plethora of tweets from Irsay.
While hyping Luck exacerbates the extreme expectations and pressure, it serves to turn the page on a proud era that has since closed.
Consider all of this hype as a don't look there, look here sentiment.
Forget the losses from last year, or the ones that remain ahead in the next couple, because the future is bright, or so that thinking will go.
Luck has all the tools you want in a quarterback, and the mindset to make an impact in Indy with quality wins, but it will not come overnight.
I would be careful of the hype machine, because there is going to be natural growing pains initially, and all this hype will only make it worse.
