SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 132 Michael Bennett, Georgia WR
Starting April 2, the SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players for 2012 in the SEC.
No. 132: Michael Bennett, No. 82, Wide Receiver, Georgia
2011 Stats: 32 catches for 320 yards and five touchdowns
Strengths
As a redshirt freshman, Bennett emerged as a dependable target for quarterback Aaron Murray as the 2011 season progressed, with 20 of his 32 passes coming after Georgia's sixth game of the season. He's a reliable target that complements the tandem of Malcolm Mitchell and Tavarres King well.
Weaknesses
He can be a deep threat, but because of Mitchell and King, he hasn't really had to be yet—so that question still lingers. He isn't a secret anymore, so it'll be interesting to see how opposing defensive coordinators game-plan against him moving forward.
2012 Prediction
Mitchell worked at defensive back this spring, and while he will probably play both ways, he still will need some time to rest. That will open the door for Bennett to emerge as even more of a threat in 2012.
