Madden 2013 Cover: Stop Voting for Cam Netwon If You Ever Want Carolina to Win

Dear Carolina Panthers fans:

Just let Calvin Johnson have it. Just do it. Let him be on the cover of "Madden 2013".

Sure, he believes in curses, but he's not scared of them. You know, in the same way that drag racers aren't scared of cops. Or death. Or in the same way that Colton Dixon admits he isn't scared of the judges when they say he's terrible, and we all know what happened to him. (I'm sure no one who frequents this website knows who Colton Dixon is or remotely cares what happened to him).

Fellow Detroit Lions wideout Nate Burleson recently told the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett that the implications of the curse mean nothing, compared to the implications of many dollar bills:

Of course, I would love to see my guy on the cover of Madden. I'm a big Madden fan. I do believe in the curse, but there's certain curses that can be erased with dollar signs, so we'll see what happens. I'm just keeping it real...If any guy can break the curse, it's Calvin. This dude is a monster. He's strong enough to break tackles, he can break a curse. 

"

Fine! Let him have the money. He can spend it on betting against the Panthers in the Super Bowl a couple of years from now while he tries to ignore the career-ending injury that has rendered him couch-ridden.

The Madden curse shall not be ignored or disrespected. The curse put the New Orleans Saints in permanent NFL purgatory. It didn't even limit itself to infecting Drew Brees; it ate his whole team, and the coaching staff too. In the past 10 years, it has also claimed Brett Favre, Vince Young (though it took a few years to kick in), Donovan McNabb (again, these things take time) and Michael Vick.

The curse works in mysterious ways. You might think you're safe for a season, and then the next one, you're the next Ryan Leaf.

And the Panthers can’t afford to let that happen. They need Newton if they ever want to win a Super Bowl, which, remember, has never happened. He is their quarterback of the future, and no one wants to see him go the way of so many Madden cover stars before him.

Panthers fans, don't let this happen to Cam. Ignore his campaign video. They made him do it. He doesn't want this.
